If you want to play Greedy Granny, you’ll need to get your hands on the Greedy Granny kit. This particular version even comes with a fun bonus puzzle for some extra Greedy Granny action.
The box will have the following bits of equipment in it:
- 1 granny in her armchair (in 2 separate pieces)
- 1 set of granny’s teeth
- 1 treat wheel
- 12 treats
- Full copy of Greedy Granny board game rules
Greedy Granny is also available as an Old Maid card game format. However, it comes in a 4-in-1 set of card games.
How to Set Up Greedy Granny
Greedy Granny is straightforward to set up. First of all, you’ll want to ‘build’ the granny. She will be in 2 different parts in the box. All you need to do is place the top half of the granny into the bottom half. You should be able to hear it snap into place.
Carefully insert the teeth into granny’s mouth. They should fit there with no issues, and you don’t need to click them into place or anything like that either.
Pull back on granny’s chair until you hear a click sound. The granny will then be in a ‘snoozing’ mode.
Next, take all of the treats and load them carefully onto her tray. If she suddenly ‘wakes up’ while you are doing this, you’ll have to reset her and carefully put the treats back on the tray.
Now you’re ready to play Greedy Granny. Let’s take a look at the Greedy Granny board game rules, along with the Greedy Granny gameplay instructions.
Greedy Granny Board Game Rules & Gameplay Instructions
Make sure you’ve got between 2 and 4 players. You can also play alone, but it isn’t quite as fun as playing with others – though it can be good practice! The aim of the game is not to wake the granny when you take the treats. Her teeth will come flying out if she wakes up, and her goodies will be scattered across the table.
There are a couple of elements to be aware of with Greedy Granny. The first is the treat wheel, which dictates what the player needs to do with the treats and how many times to press the button next to granny’s chair.
Gameplay Instructions
The youngest player goes first. They have to spin the Greedy Granny treat wheel. The treat wheel will dictate what the player has to do next, and there are several options that we’ll take you through.
You’ll also see some numbers written on the spinner. The numbers tell you how many times you need to press the button next to granny’s chair. Each player gets to spin the treat wheel once before passing it on to the next player.
Treat Wheel Sections
There are several sections on the treat wheel spinner which dictate what task you have to do.
If the arrow lands on the green section of the treat wheel, the player will have to try and sneak a treat from granny’s tray.
If the spinner lands on the purple section of the treat wheel, the player will have to try and sneak a treat back onto granny’s tray if they have a treat already.
If the player spins and the arrow lands on the circle with a line through it, the player misses a go, and they don’t have to press the button next to granny’s chair.
If the arrow lands on the picture with 2 people on it, the player can take one treat from any of the players who have a treat.
Winning the Game
To win the game, you need to collect one of each treat without waking the granny up. If a player wakes granny up, they have to put all of their treats back on granny’s tray, and granny is reset, and the game is continued.
