Season 1 of Stranger Things begins in November of 1983 when a rift is opened by researchers at Hawkins National Laboratory to an alternate dimension called Upside Down. 

From Upside Down comes a monstrous humanoid creature that escapes and abducts Will Byers and Barabara Holland. We’re then introduced to a psychokinetic girl called Eleven, who escapes from the lab and assists in the search for finding Will. 

The show features on-the-edge-of-your-seat, adrenaline-pumping viewing, but there are some heartwarming moments, too.
